FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Texas State Fair Sees Explosive Growth with BlastPass

AUSTIN, Texas - November 21, 2019 - The East Texas State Fair knows a thing or two about hosting an event. Since 1912, the fair has operated for 10 days in the month of September, offering something for everyone, including rides, games, competitive exhibits and more. Over 250,000 visit the fair annually.

Even though the event has a long history with many traditions, the fair has never been afraid to embrace new technology. This year, the East Texas State Fair utilized BlastPass RFID Technology to manage all alcohol sales, including sales in their craft beer garden. The fair’s willingness to improve the way they accept payment has paid off—not only was it easier for customers to purchase beverages, but the fair saw a 49% increase in revenue from 2018 alcohol sales!

In addition to easier transactions, East Texas State Fair incentivized beer enthusiasts to visit the craft beer garden by pre-loading each BlastPass wristband with one free beer tasting. This not only increased traffic to the area but encouraged attendees to sample additional new offerings they may not have otherwise tried. As a result, craft beer tastings and revenue in the garden also increased.

“The East Texas State Fair was excited to extend our partnership with Saffire, by utilizing their new BlastPass RFID technology for all alcohol sales at this year’s fair,” said John Sykes, East Texas State Fair CEO. “We saw a 49% increase in our alcohol revenue due to several factors, but certainly BlastPass was key. This is the future for any fair wanting to gain better control of the revenue streaming into their event.”
