The Lake County Fair Association was first established in December of
1879, and held its first fair in 1880 in Grantsville, which today is the
town of Lower Lake.
The Lake County Fairgrounds is operated by an agency of the State of California, the 49th District Agricultural Association.
The Lake County Fairgrounds is administered by the Chief Executive
Officer, who reports to the 49th District Agricultural Association Board
of Directors. Each member of the Board of Directors has been appointed
by the Governor of California to a four year term. The Board President
and Vice President are selected annually from within the Board
membership.
Throughout the normal course of the year, the CEO and an account
technician are assisted by several seasonal employees, and that work
force expands to approximately 100 people during the week of the annual
fair.
