Saffire Wins Prestigious Barham Award from WFA

“We absolutely couldn’t have anticipated winning this award, but we’re unbelievably happy to accept it. It means a lot to our team who works so hard. “We absolutely couldn’t have anticipated winning this award, but we’re unbelievably happy to accept it. It means a lot to our team who works so hard. And we are humbled by WFA, for giving companies like ours, that don’t have the tenure of so many incredible people in this room, the opportunity for such a high honor.”

Those were just some of the words spoken by Jeremy Emerson under bright lights as he graciously accepted the 2014 Barham Award from Western Fairs Association on January 8th, 2014 in sunny Anaheim, California.

The Barham Award is presented in honor of Hot Dog on a Stick founder Dave Barham, and recognizes innovation, quality and leadership in the field of service. The award is extremely high praise and has been presented annually at the WFA convention since 1996. Our team is honored to join the ranks of some pillars of the fair industry.

We were doubly honored to accept the award from WFA’s Vice President, Troy Bowers with Amador County fair, who was Saffire’s 11th client and an early adopter of the Saffire movement.

Jeremy took his opportunity on stage to thank WFA member fairs that use Saffire and talk to the membership briefly about innovation and Saffire’s approach within the fair industry.

We can’t thank WFA enough for this honor and recognition. We would do what we do without the accolades, but this is a great shot in the arm to continue to provide fairs of all sizes with an opportunity to market themselves online smarter.

Saffire is also proud to have WFA on board as a client, along with the following WFA Member Fairs:

IAFE 2011: And the winner is…

Anyone who knows me knows I love an awards ceremony (the Grammies being my favorite, followed by the Oscars when they don’t drag on too much). Anyone who knows me knows I love an awards ceremony (the Grammies being my favorite, followed by the Oscars when they don’t drag on too much). So I was really looking forward to the awards ceremony at IAFE.

I was particularly excited, because I had gone to Springfield in October to judge the marketing awards (but luckily had subsequently forgotten most of the winners, so it was like new again!). The branding for fairs is so fun, and I love the challenge of conveying the magic of the fair across all the different mediums.

One category, however, that I didn’t judge was websites. And so I was 100% surprised and honored when our websites won two awards!

Rodeo Austin took first place in their division for their website, and this was a particular honor since it was their second year in a row to win. I think this is a first, and we’re so grateful to be their partner!

Also, in a total surprise, Brazos Valley Fair & Expo took third place in their division. Not bad for an event that hasn’t even happened yet!

We appreciate the hard work that goes into creating and maintaining an event site, so we would like to congratulate all of the first place winners in the five divisions.

Division 5:  Erie County Fair, NY
Division 4:  Indiana State Fair
Division 3:  Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo (Rodeo Austin)
Division 2:  Clay County Agricultural Fair, FL
Division 1:  Canyon County Fair, ID

Of course, it feels good to win, and we look forward to working with our clients to create even more award-winning websites next year!

They Like Us, They Really Like Us!

I love award ceremonies. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s seeing and hearing from stars when they’re vulnerable but trying really hard. Maybe it’s seeing George Clooney in a suit. Or maybe it’s just because I love movies and music, so the Oscars, Globes and Grammies are all on my Tivo list (and I even … Continue reading “They Like Us, They Really Like Us!”

I love award ceremonies. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s seeing and hearing from stars when they’re vulnerable but trying really hard. Maybe it’s seeing George Clooney in a suit. Or maybe it’s just because I love movies and music, so the Oscars, Globes and Grammies are all on my Tivo list (and I even forgive my son Hudson for being born during the entire span of the Grammies two years ago).

But awards have started to take on a new meaning with Saffire. We’ve entered Rodeo Austin, a Saffire Client Pro website we did last year and the craziest thing has happened.

We have won every award we entered.

I’m not trying to brag, but I’ve got to tell you; it’s felt pretty good. It’s made me feel validated for thinking there was a place for us in the fair and rodeo industry!

I couldn’t be more excited about our offering. And it’s awesome to have so many others confirm that they like it too.

Next time, I’ll tell you why we decided to launch Saffire in the first place. Stay tuned!
